MANSFIELD — A space safe for everyone at all levels of fitness is how Reneta Music describes the newest addition at her Music Academy of Karate & Empowerment.
MAKE Strength and Fitness Center, located at 44 W. Fourth St., celebrated the grand opening of its expanded downtown facility Friday.
The unveiling was for the second-floor strength and conditioning center designed to make fitness accessible, welcoming and safe for everyone — especially women.
Music said she wanted the space to feel different from “big box” gyms, which can sometimes feel intimidating.

“This is a space that I want to be absolutely safe for everyone,” Music said. “I hear from people all the time that they don’t feel comfortable at larger gyms, and I want to change that.”
The new addition features free weights, kettlebells, stationary bikes, steppers and more. Music encourages community members of all experience levels to give it a try.
“For those who might feel intimidated by barbells or unsure how to lift weights, I’m the instructor who can teach you those things,” she said. “Come and try it out.”
Music’s journey into fitness was inspired by her husband and began with kettlebell training. She later expanded her expertise to barbell and bodyweight exercises, earning certifications in kettlebells in 2011 and in barbells in 2013.
“I can help get you on a journey to a healthier you,” she said.
The community’s response to the expansion has been overwhelming, she said.
“It’s amazing to know that I have this much support and love,” Music said. “It will really hit me later.”
With her new facility, Music hopes to create a welcoming environment where everyone — regardless of experience or fitness level — can feel empowered to pursue their health goals.
Community gathers to support MAKE Strength and Fitness
MAKE Strength and Fitness Center originally opened its doors on Oct. 4, 2024, as part of the karate studio. Friday’s celebration gathered family, friends, local residents and elected officials.
Mansfield City Council member Aurelio Diaz (5th Ward) praised Music’s commitment to both fitness and small business growth.
“I love what you are doing, and I look forward to more of your expansion,” Diaz said. “I’m a huge supporter of female-owned businesses and hope to see more of them in the future.”
Attendees could also bid on auction items and leave donations to help with funding for the new fitness center.
Hours will be 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday; 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Tuesday; 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Friday.
