A company that specializes in individualized fitness training is approaching its first opening in Johnson County.
Alloy Personal Training will unveil its new Overland Park franchise on Oct. 5 in Overland Park.
The studio is already offering founding memberships with a 20% discount for the first 75 members.
Alloy Personal Training will be at 5053 W. 119th St.
- The studio occupies a space on the west side of the Hawthorne Plaza shopping center near Annabelles Linens and Chipotle.
- Lingerie boutique Clair de Lune operated out of that space for more than 15 years before closing in April 2022 (and later reopening in Leawood under new ownership).
- Once it opens, Alloy will be open from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Thursday; from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday; and from 7 a.m. to noon Saturday.
Alloy offers one-on-one or small-group workouts
The company specializes in one-on-one and small-group training for people of varying fitness levels.
Before coming on board to train, first-time clients assess their health history and fitness goals with staff to track their progress over time.
“We tailor workouts to fit each person where they’re at,” said Christopher Reid, general manager at the Overland Park studio. “Every time they come in, they know that they’re well within their threshold of safety; making sure that we’re not asking too much of them, but at the same time, making sure that they’re getting a challenging workout that pushes them to do better.”
Owner Janice Pinson said Alloy’s small group training can serve as a beneficial option for those looking for the personalized approach of one-on-one training while still having a community feel.
“People come in to lose weight or to get stronger, but they probably stay because of the community,” she said.
The name of the company signifies the idea of being “stronger together” — as the word “alloy” refers to the combination of multiple metallic elements to create greater strength.
Though Alloy offers training for athletes of all ages and fitness levels, the company’s specialty is clients ages 40 and older.
“Everything we do relates to making you better and stronger for your daily life,” Pinson said. “Whether that’s lifting the bag of mulch, carrying dog food or hiking with your grandchildren.”

The Overland Park facility also serves as the first in the wider Kansas City metro.
Alloy Personal Training was founded in 1992 in Georgia and now offers personal training in several states, including Colorado, California and Florida.
By bringing Alloy to Johnson County, the Overland Park team said they’re looking forward to meeting their studio’s new community and to giving them a new part of their routine to look forward to as well.
“I think our big goal here is to always find a win every single time you come in,” said Destiny Hurst, head coach and personal trainer at Alloy in Overland Park. “We’re not just (waiting for) the end goal to congratulate them and celebrate them, we’re celebrating a win every day that they come.”
