The Salvation Army Ray and Joan Kroc Corps Community Center is a truly amazing resource for residents and families on Chicago’s South Side to enjoy faith, family, fitness, and fun.

Located at 1250 W. 119th St., Kroc Center Chicago is the largest facility of its kind in Chicago that provides state-of-the-art facilities for recreation, education, celebration, and spiritual development.

The Kroc Center Chicago, as it is commonly known, offers a full-service fitness center; indoor water park; six-lane lap/competition pool; four-court gymnasium; music/dance studios; performance and event spaces; weight room with indoor track; child watch and teen zone; church/worship center; and a performing arts theater.

Dedicated to ensuring that all the members and visitors who walk through its doors are welcome, safe and receive the promise of fun and growth, Kroc Center Chicago offers programs and activities in the community to help people improve their artistic skills, ignite a passion for health and sports, enhance their spiritual journey and provide the means and space for seniors and families to visit and enjoy themselves in a friendly environment.

Kroc Center Chicago offers local residents the opportunity to work out in a state-of-the-art exercise facility, learn or improve swimming skills with swim classes for all ages, have fun with family and friends in its water park featuring water slides and a kid’s play area, and show off their athletic skills on beautiful basketball courts.

It hosts programs such as aquatics, arts, family life, education, fitness, and sports as well as activities for seniors.

Beyond fitness and athletics, local residents can also worship together, learn to dance, brush up on their computer skills, learn Spanish, and a whole lot more!

Since opening 13 years ago, the Kroc Center Chicago has established an amazing record of community service, and the numbers are proof of that.

Kroc Center Chicago has delivered the following to the community since opening in 2012: 520 Sunday worship services; 1,500 swim lessons; 4,200 basketball games; 14,000 hours of computer lessons; 7,000 warm winter coats given away; 800 local jobs filled; 25,000 kids participating in 25 winter/summer camps; 6,000 hours of personal fitness training; and 4,000 hours of piano lessons.

The Salvation Army Ray & Joan Kroc Corps Community Center also supports South Side families in need with its food pantry, Thanksgiving turkey giveaway and holiday toy drive.

Directing the center’s mission are Salvation Army Lieutenants Kenesa and Shanell Debela, as the new senior officers of Kroc Center Chicago. With many years in The Salvation Army, they bring to their roles a wealth of experience and leadership in leading the center’s continuing service to the South Side community.

The future vision of the Kroc Center Chicago is to continue to positively impact individuals, families and seniors of the South Side while building community, promoting excellence, motivating wellness, teaching character and encouraging faith.

Kroc Center Chicago is open Monday through Friday, from 5:30 a.m. to 9 p.m.; Saturday, from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.; and Sunday, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
