Planet Fitness High School Summer Pass program returns
Planet Fitness is offering its annual High School Summer Pass program to all high school teens ages 14-19. All High School Summer Pass participants will have free access to: Planet Fitness’ complete range of equipment, teen-specific workout plans, the Planet Fitness App and a welcoming, non-intimidating community environment. This program runs through Aug. 31. Teens must work out at the location they sign up at and are not permitted to use other locations. Teens younger than 18 must sign-up with a parent or guardian in-club or online at PlanetFitness.com/SummerPass. A parent/guardian waiver must be signed before teens can work out alone.
CLASSES
ELKHART — Elkhart County Parks will offer Yoga in the Park from 6 to 7 p.m. June 19 at the Cobus Creek Shelter, Cobus Creek County Park, 30680 County Road 8. Join registered yoga teacher Amanda for an hour of empowering yoga. All skill levels are welcome. Participants, ages 18 and older, should dress for the weather and bring water and a yoga mat. This class is $5 with advanced registration at elkhartcountyparks.org/events/.
GOSHEN — Goshen Parks & Recreation is offering Zumba classes to help participants de-stress, lose weight and make new friends. The class is held from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays; 10 to 11 a.m. Saturdays through the month of October. The cost is $5 drop-in rate. Class is held at Fidler Pavilion, Pringle Park, 1912 W. Lincoln Ave.
SOUTH BEND — The St. Joseph County Public Library, Community Learning Center, 305 S. Michigan St., is offering Yoga for EveryBODY from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. June 18 in Ballroom A and B.
SOUTH BEND — Downtown South Bend Inc. will offer free yoga, Zumba and more every Saturday through Aug. 30. The program is held at the Gridiron, 122 S. Michigan St. The drop-in classes are free and open to all ages and skill levels. Participants are encouraged to bring a small donation of canned goods, non-perishables or personal items for the Food Bank each week. Participants should dress in appropriate clothing and footwear, bring a mat and adequate fluids, and will be required to sign a waiver for the season. Free parking is available on the street and in the Leighton Parking Garage, enter off Jefferson Boulevard. This Saturday’s class, June 14, includes 8 a.m. Yoga; 9 a.m. Cardio Dance; 10 a.m. Pilates. GOSHEN — Enjoy hiking a different park trail every month, make new friends, get a little exercise and glimpse the bounty of nature at every curve and corner. The Hiking Club of Elkhart County Parks meets on the third Tuesday of each month. On June 17, meet from 6 to 7 p.m. and take a 1.75-mile hike from the Benton Spillway parking area in The River Preserve County Park, 68587 County Road 31. All ages are welcome; no registration required.
MICHIGAN CITY — Franciscan Health Michigan City’s free FIT-Together program, a family-centered approach to health and wellness is back and open for registration. This six-week fitness program is intended for households with children between the ages of 8 and 15. Participants will explore health choices in activities, relationships and emotional health, the seven Cs of family resilience by taking part in individual and family-centered physical activities and meal prep classes.
Fit-Together takes place from 4:15 to 5:45 p.m. CT on Tuesdays and Thursdays from June 17 to July 24 at The Temple Total Fitness Center, 1914 E. U.S. 20. Participants should wear comfortable clothing and gym shoes to all sessions. NEW CARLISLE — Hamilton Grove will hold a free, informative event series focused on retirement planning. The weekly sessions will offer expert guidance on a range of topics critical to aging well and planning ahead. SOUTH BEND — Take a Summer Solstice Hike on the longest day of the year with a serene, self-guided night hike. Roast a hot dog over the campfire and enjoy ice-cold lemonade. This event is designed for individuals who may have recently fallen or are concerned about their stability. SOUTH BEND — Alzheimer’s and Dementia Services of Northern Indiana will hold a support group for “Navigating the Waves of Grief” from 10 to 11:30 a.m. every third Tuesday of the month at Milton Village, 111 Sunnybrook Court. SOUTH BEND — The New Hope Support Group will meet the third Tuesday of each month from 7 to 8:15 p.m. at Little Flower Catholic Church, 54191 N. Ironwood Road. This interdenominational group is for divorced, widows, widowers and anyone suffering grief due to the loss of a loved one. The group meets in a large area of the basement level of the church.
