February is Children’s Dental Health Month.
Today on the show we were joined by Dr. Ana Murillo, DDS, from Cabarrus Rowan Community Health Centers, their assistant dental director. Dr. Murillo sharing why this month is so important, when it comes to raising awareness about oral health in kids.
Like many things in life, parents and caregivers are often the ones that help set the tone for good oral hygiene habits for little ones (a.k.a. leading by example).
When it comes to little ones here are some common dental issues: cavities, gum disease, and orthodontic issues. That’s why early detection, treatment, and good routines are so important when it comes to brushing their teeth.
Dr. Murillo also shared some Preventive Care Tips: regular dental check-ups, brushing twice a day with fluoride toothpaste, flossing, and maintaining a balanced diet that limits sugary snacks and drinks.
We also discussed the Role of Fluoride, which helps strengthen enamel and prevent decay.
Another thing to consider, the impact of diet on Dental Health: foods and drinks that promote healthy teeth, like dairy products, leafy greens, and water. Unlike the negative impact of sugary and acidic foods on dental health.
