New Jersey residents know all about the many beaches and boardwalks that grace the Jersey Shore.
And for the beachgoers of the Shore we agree with the latest assesment from Travel + Leisure report on America’s Best Small Towns of 2025 in naming Asbury Park as the Best Small Beach Town in America.
The travel magazine study reveals the best small towns across the U.S. and divided them into ten categories from a poll of industry leaders and travel agents for the adventurous travelers next quest.
To qualify, each town had to have a full-time population below 45,000 residents, excel in its category, offer a variety of activities, accommodations, and a timely reason to visit or a notable tourism initiative the report said.
TravelandLeisure spotlights the rebirth of Asbury’s boardwalk, growth in the dining industry and diverse community on top of the arts and music scene.

“Bruce Springsteen’s album ‘Greetings from Asbury Park, N.J.’ put the town on the global music map in 1973, and for years, only die-hard music fans made the trip to Asbury Park in hopes of scoring tickets to shows at legendary venues like the Stone Pony. But in the early aughts, the LGBTQ+ community invested heavily in the town, restoring its Victorian colonial homes,” Deb Masco, an employee at the Asbury Ocean Club hotel, told Travelandleisure.com.
“Their investments in real estate and business start ups helped fuel the rebirth which we see exploding today.
“The historic boardwalk has been completely reimagined and rivals the coolest street in Brooklyn. There’s a diverse community that has fostered creativity that extends beyond music, to the arts, food, and design scenes. “
