Community Health and Dental to host health fair Aug. 9

NORTH COVENTRY — Community Health and Dental Care Inc. (CHDC) will hold a health fair on Friday, Aug. 9 as part of National Health Center Week.

National Health Center Week, Aug. 4 through 10 this year, is an annual celebration that aims to raise awareness about the mission and accomplishments of the country’s health centers over the past 50 years.

Community Health & Dental Care’s Aug. 9 health fair will run from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the healthcare provider’s Coventry Mall location, 351 W. Schuylkill Road in North Coventry Township.

More than 30 area organizations and agencies will be on hand for the event — sharing health information as well as information about community resources. In addition, there will be free health screenings for blood pressure, as well as a giveaway of 100 backpacks filled with back-to-school items, according to a press release about the event.

“It has been incredible to watch our weeklong celebration and health fair grow throughout the years,” Kirsten Groff, Community Health & Dental Care marketing and events director, said in a statement. “Whether you are a longtime CHDC patient or have never visited a Community Health Center before, we encourage you to visit our Health Fair on Aug. 9 and learn more about the programs and affordable access to health services we have to offer.”

Those attending the health fair are invited to bring an item to benefit the Street Medicine Program, which works to provide primary and urgent care for those experiencing homelessness.

Among the participating community organizations of this year’s event are: Pottstown Area Health & Wellness Foundation, Pottstown Hospital Tower Health, ACLAMO, Action Karate Royersford, TriCounty Active Adult Center, YWCA TriCounty, Pottstown Library, Boyertown Area Multi-Service, Pottstown YMCA, Montgomery County Community College, and Legal Aid of Southeast Pennsylvania, a non-profit law firm.

Throughout the week, Community Health and Dental Care will showcase “how it provides high-quality health care, improve health outcomes, and narrow health disparities,” according to the release.
