eed to (last-minute) sort something special for your S.O. this Valentine’s?

In the name of love, Team ES has done the hard work for you and sought out London’s swankiest spas offering perfect pampering packages for the two of you to hunker down and spend some quality time.

From thermal pools to deep tissue massages and glow-inducing oxygen facials, we’ve got you covered in our round up of the best below. You’re welcome.

Couples massage, Pan Pacific Hotel London

Jack Hardy

Spas are the best. The lying down, the intoxicating scents, the human touch — what’s not to like? At Pan Pacific – the imposing new 19-floor hotel in the heart of Liverpool Street – it gets even better. The spa’s infinity pool overlooks busy Bishopsgate Plaza. So, as you recline on your lounger, sipping on a chilled glass of sauvignon blanc, you’ll get an extra thrill from seeing your fellow harried Londoners trundle past on the 26 bus.

The glorious smugness continues as you’re led up to the seventeenth floor (which has views into the surrounding offices, including London landmark The Gherkin) to a plush suite for a full-body couple’s massage. Each treatment is fully tailored to the recipient (knotted shoulders and neck for me, head and scalp for my headache-prone plus one). Round off the day with a slap-up meal (go for the sharing plates for max romance) in Straits Kitchen, the hotel’s modern South Asian restaurant, before rolling into the super-sized bed and drifting off with the aid of a fancy ChiliSleep Ooler Sleep Cooling System to keep your zen in check.

ESPA Inner Calm Massage, Corinthia Hotel

ESPA Corinthia

Spa junkies across London flock to the Corinthia for its state-of-the-art spa and world class treatments, and this year’s Valentine’s offering is as excellent as you would expect. The Inner Calm treatment begins with a deep nourishing massage with deeply scented restorative ESPA oils. Lose yourself to calm while your therapist patiently kneads and pummels all your knots and tension away from your toes to your shoulders, ending with a heavenly scalp massage so relaxing you’re unlikely to be awake by the end. To finish, your therapist will wave soothing Rose Quartz crystals over you to promote a sense of calm. Bliss.

Afterwards, luxuriate in the Corinthia’s superb spa with its hot massage pool and chic sauna. Romantic or what?

In The Name of Love, The Carlton Tower Jumeirah

Jumeirah

Our Valentine’s afternoon package kicked off with afternoon tea in The Chinoiserie at the plush, newly revamped Carlton Tower Jumeirah in Belgravia. We gorged on unlimited sandwiches, think blue lobster brioche and English pickled cucumber in neat white bread, scones and sweet treats, washed down with chilled glasses of Ruinart and an assortment of refreshing teas from all over the world.

Next, it was up to the Talise Spa for our indulgent two-hour ‘Celebration of Love’ couples massage. Beginning with a scent consultation to ensure the treatment matched our moods — in my case, commute-induced exhaustion — the highly personalised deep tissue full-body massage melted away our city stresses fast.

Our masseuse incorporated a rose quartz crystal to open the heart chakra for extra healing vibes, and finished with a divine facial massage to depuff. We ended our evening by the pool which features a domed glass roof, poolside cabanas and jacuzzi where we could enjoy herbal teas and snacks of dried fruit. Indulgence at its best.

Mediterranean Candlelit Massage, Spa at Landmark London

Landmark London Hotel

Start your treatment by choosing from one of three Mediterranean-inspired candle scents: lavender, citrus or olive oil. The candle wax, which is actually shea butter, is directly poured onto your back – an experience in itself. (Don’t worry, it’s not hot enough to burn.) Over 50 or 80 minutes, the masseuse will slather your body from head-to-toe in the scented wax, easing any tension and hydrating your skin as you drift off into complete bliss. Once finished, take as much time as you need in the relaxation room rehydrating with water and herbal teas and leave feeling relaxed and rejuvenated, with just enough energy to enjoy the sauna or pool or perhaps a chillded bottle of champagne by the fireplace at the hotel’s iconic Great Central Bar.

Love Connection, Aire Ancient Baths

Aire Ancient Baths

Knock on the door of Aire Ancient Bath’s 18th Century Charing Cross townhouse and you’ll come face to face with a sign: “Relaxation awaits.” Inside, take a seat in a candlelit library, wind down stairs to a locker room before stepping into the impressive selection of thermal baths to try. There is a rubber band system which feels a bit public swimming pool, and you have to wear wet suit shoes – but it is worth it.

For Valentine’s Day they are offering Love Connection, a special package involving a 45 or 60-minute full-body massage, with warm sandalwood oils and amethyst crystals, plus a full circuit of the thermal baths, enjoyed with rosé cava and macarons. Flying solo for V-Day? Sign up for the Love Yourself option, a package for just one. Begin with a dip in the body temperature Tepidarium bath, before braving the 10 degree Frigidarium and jet bath. Save the best until last – the Flotarium with a salt density level matching the Dead Sea. This one is just warm and has spa music.

Young LDN Galentine’s Aqua Pure Hydrafacial

Young LDN

Notting Hill has always been one of London’s corners of cool, and beauty and skincare destination Young LDN only bolsters its status. The salon is made for lengthy pamper sessions, with nails, hair and face and body treatments all offered under one Instagrammable roof. In short, the perfect Galentine’s venue for you and your inner circle. While the mani stations offer a great place to catch-up (or squeal over The Tinder Swindler together on the tablets each table offers), the proper pampering happens below ground. Here’s where you can enjoy massages or a deep cleaning facial such as the Aqua Pure Hydrafacial, one of Young LDN’s most popular treatments.

The non-invasive facial begins with a triple cleanse to rid skin of every scrap of makeup before the gentle water microdermabrasion begins. The sensation of your winter-worn dead cells being sucked up by a vacuum feels like being kissed by a fish, I imagine – slightly weird but not uncomfortable. Microcurrent and electro manipulation also come into play and by the end of the 60 minute session, your complexion feels fresh and looks alive with skin noticeably plumper. Despite the suction and hot and cold elements of the facial, I found it deeply relaxing, and booked towards the end of the day, felt soothed enough to drift off into a semi-sleep.

While you and your BFF can’t have this done in the same room simultaneously, if you’re looking for a way to spoil your ride-or-die, this facial will leave them literally glowing with glee.
