The Fitness Court at Lukens Park in Horsham Township expands free access to high-quality workouts and creates equitable access to exercise for communities across the region.
Independence Blue Cross and the National Fitness Campaign (NFC) recently celebrated Horsham Township becoming the first official IBX-sponsored Fitness Court partner in the Philadelphia region. The Fitness Court at Lukens Park, which originally launched to the community in 2020, has reopened with modernized equipment and a completely renovated space ready for users of all fitness abilities.
A ribbon-cutting event celebrated the commitment among Horsham Township, IBX, and NFC to expand free access to high-quality workouts and create equitable access to exercise for communities across the region. The Fitness Court outdoor gym lets users leverage their own body weight to get a complete workout using seven exercise stations.
“Horsham Township is thrilled to partner with the National Fitness Campaign and Independence Blue Cross to relaunch our Fitness Court,” said Kyle Lynch, the township’s Assistant Director of Public Works. “This exciting collaboration enhances our community’s commitment to health and wellness, enriching the quality of life for both residents and visitors alike.”
“As the region’s hometown health insurer for more than 85 years, Independence Blue Cross is proud to celebrate the newly renovated IBX-sponsored Fitness Court in Horsham — a testament to the power of true community partnership,” said Stephen Fera, IBX’s Executive Vice President of Public Affairs and President of Government Markets. “IBX’s ongoing commitment to providing accessible, high-quality health and well-being resources across the five-county area reflects our dedication to helping every individual thrive. By investing in programs that strengthen and empower our communities, we are building a healthier, more inclusive future for all.”
Created for adults of all abilities aged 14 and older, the Fitness Court workouts are adaptable for all fitness levels, allowing participants to move at their own pace. Users also may download the free Fitness Court App, which acts as a coach-in-your-pocket and enhances the outdoor gym into a digitally supported wellness experience.
“National Fitness Campaign is excited to see Horsham Township impacting the lives of their residents with consistent and engaging community workouts out on the Fitness Court,” said Mitch Menaged, the NFC’s founder. “We are thrilled to see the township join the IBX regional wellness campaign as the leading healthy community in the Philadelphia area.”
