ALL RIGHT, DALENCIA WE’RE OVER HERE GETTING FIT. OKAY. IT’S TIME FOR 11 NEWS FITNESS. JOINING US THIS MORNING IS TEDDY SAVAGE FROM PLANET FITNESS WITH SOME BACK TO SCHOOL WORKOUTS. GOOD MORNING. GOOD MORNING, JANINE. HOW ARE YOU? I’VE BEEN DOING GREAT. THAT’S WHAT I’M TALKING ABOUT. THE WEATHER LADIES. WE WERE TELLING HIM THEY REALLY DO WORK OUT DURING THE SHOW. SO I’M GOING TO SHOW YOU SOME BACK TO SCHOOL GROOVES THAT YOU CAN DO FOR CARDIO USING A FUNCTIONAL ACCESSORY LIKE A MEDICINE BALL. OKAY. ALL RIGHT. SO THE FIRST ONE IS GOING TO BE CALLED A PLYO JACK. WE STAND WITH OUR FEET ABOUT HIP WIDTH APART. WE’RE GOING TO HOLD THAT MEDICINE BALL ABOUT CHEST HEIGHT, ELBOWS IN, AND WE’RE GOING TO PRESS IT UP. AND AS WE PRESS IT UP, JANINE, I’M JACKING MY FEET OUT AND IN. SO RIGHT NOW I’M WORKING MY SHOULDERS AND MY TRICEPS AND MY UPPER CHEST WITH THE WEIGHT, BUT I’M ALSO WORKING MY HEART BECAUSE I’M JUMPING OUT AND IN. SO THE BEST PART ABOUT THAT IS IT’S DYNAMIC, RIGHT? I’M DOING TWO FOR ONE. AND WHO DOESN’T LOVE A TWO FOR ONE SPECIAL? OH, I DO. I MEAN, I LOVE IT, RIGHT? WE SEEK IT OUT. EXPLOSIVE MOVEMENT. YES. AND PLYOS IS EVERYTHING COMBINING STRENGTH AND CARDIO? THIS NEXT ONE IS GOING TO BE A NICE SIDE SKATER. SO WE’RE TALKING LATERAL MOVEMENTS, RIGHT? I’M GOING TO STAND A LITTLE BIT AWAY FROM YOU SO I DON’T STEP ON THOSE NICE HEELS AND I’M GOING TO JUMP OUT LATERALLY AND BRING MY MEDICINE BALL DOWN TO MY HIP. YEAH, YOU CAN JOIN ME ON THAT ONE. AND WE’RE SKIPPING. WE WERE JUST TALKING ABOUT THE CONCERT. AND WHEN YOU’RE LISTENING IN TO YOUR MUSIC, RIGHT, YOU CAN DO YOUR SKATERS TO THAT RHYTHM AND THAT’S ANOTHER COMPONENT OF IT, RIGHT? RHYTHM AND MOVEMENT IS JUST ANOTHER PART OF EXERCISE, RIGHT? YEAH. SO IT CAN BE FUN. I LIKE EARTH, WIND AND FIRE TOO. WE JUST TALKING ABOUT THAT. I’M AN OLD SOUL, RIGHT? SO I MIGHT HAVE THAT IN MY HEADPHONES. OKAY. THIS NEXT ONE IS A SPLIT JUMP, SO WE’RE GOING TO GET IN A NICE STAGGERED STANCE. LEFT FOOT FORWARD, RIGHT LEG BACK. WE’RE GOING TO HAVE OUR BALL RIGHT HERE. I’M GOING TO JUMP AND SPLIT THOSE FEET EVERY TIME I HOP. I’LL SHOW YOU FROM THE SIDE. SO MY FRONT LEG IS ABOUT 90 DEGREES. BACK LEG IS ONLY ABOUT AN INCH OFF THE GROUND. BUT BECAUSE I’M JUMPING, I’M RAISING MY BPMS. THAT’S BEATS PER MINUTE. I’M BURNING CALORIES. I’M FEELING GOOD. WHAT IF YOU DON’T HAVE MEGAN’S KNEES? IS THERE IS THERE A MODIFIED VERSION OF. ABSOLUTELY. EVERY MOVEMENT CAN BE MODIFIED, ESPECIALLY AT PLANET FITNESS. WE BELIEVE IN MODIFICATIONS. SO YOU CAN JUST STEP BACK, STEP UP, GO TO YOUR RANGE OF MOTION. AS YOU CAN SEE, I PUT THE MEDICINE BALL DOWN BECAUSE YOU DON’T ACTUALLY NEED THE WEIGHT. YOU JUST GOT TO GET YOUR BODY IN MOTION. RIGHT. AND THE LAST ONE, I’LL PUT IT DOWN IS TOE TAPS. OKAY. I LIKE TO SAY AROUND THE CLOCK, TOE TAPS, BECAUSE I START HERE AT 12:00 AND THEN I GO TO ONE, TWO, THREE, AND I CAN GO ALL THE WAY AROUND OR BACK THE OPPOSITE WAY, YOU KNOW, I’M JUST GOING TO DANCE IT OUT. I SEE YOU TO STEPPING OVER THERE LIKE. LIKE YOU WERE AT THE COOKOUT. BUT THE BEST PART ABOUT FITNESS IS IT MIMICS LIFE. IT GETS YOU HEALTHY AND BACK TO SCHOOL. TIME TO RECLAIM YOU, RECLAIM YOUR TIME.
