A 28-year-old is accused of stabbing a 43-year-old man in the chest at a Planet Fitness gym in Gardner, Massachusetts.Police responded to the Planet Fitness on Victoria Lane in Gardner around 10:20 a.m. Wednesday and found the man suffering from a stab wound to the chest.”Blood was rushing all down his stomach,” said Corey Koski, who was inside the gym at the time of the incident. Koski said he saw two men come out of the locker room following Wednesday’s stabbing. “The guy that said he was assaulted,” Koski said. The victim was airlifted by helicopter to UMass Memorial Medical Center in Worcester for treatment.Gardner police said the suspect, identified as Lennox Nunez, with a last known address of Revere, was stopped by state police near Interstate 190 in Leominster. State police said they recovered an edged weapon in Lennox’s vehicle. Lennox was charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon and was scheduled to face a judge later in the day. In court on Wednesday, prosecutors said Nunez is homeless and had been living in his car at the gym where the stabbing took place.According to the police report, Nunez told police he’d showered and gotten dressed at the Planet Fitness in Gardner when a man grabbed him. The report says that Nunez then stabbed that man with a box cutter.Nunez was held on $50,000 bail.The victim, Daniel Harris, was in serious but stable condition.Editor’s note: Police in Gardner initially identified the suspect as a 19-year-old.
